Lost at sea

These crab pots were lost over the last crab season either by boaters cutting off corks or wind and waves pulling them out of the pot line. Maybe some fell overboard by accident. What ever the cause the DNR or PRFC pay men to drag and retrieve them. This guy worked in the hollow today doing just that and as you can see he found quite a few. Crabs, turtles and other sea creatures get trapped in these pots and die. They can also pose hazards to navigation. We were happy to see them hauled off the bottom and out of the river.
