Iris and narcissi

Learnt something new yesterday. I bought the irises on Monday and put them in a vase, perfectly fine and upstanding. Then in the evening I was given the narcissi by a friend and I popped them in the same vase as it was convenient. Noticed later that one of the irises was drooping. Popped into the florists and she let me know that the narcissi give out a sticky substance which prevents the irises taking up.the water so they wilt. Solution cut the bottoms off the irises and put them in fresh water and bingo all well! Love the colour.
