Above And Beyond...

Garden Gone!

The Blipfoto shows a brand new house with it's rear garden washed away by The River Ebbw, during the last floods caused by Storm Dennis. The water was up to the back door - luckily the house didn't flood!

It's a new housing development in Bassaleg, Newport, South Wales (UK) that many years ago was land 'gifted' to the people of Newport by Lord Tredegar. The greedy council sold it to housing developers (against the wishes of local people) no doubt for £millions, and then granted them permission to build on a flood plain contrary to Government guidelines that building shoud not be permitted on a flood plain!!

Only yesterday the Welsh Government announced they were going to up the price of a unit of alcohol to a minimum 50p. This will mean that the cost of beer, alcohol, etc., will rise in Wales. They say its to cut alcohol consumption. Isn't that people's choice?

All that will happen is it'll affect Welsh pubs, supermarkets, and industry as people will just buy it in England where no such lunatic policy is in force!

Cases of where authorities think they know better and brush aside the wishes of those who elect them.
