Hocus crocus.

You can almost think it must be magic, as such small delicate flowers defiantly withstand the dreadful weather we're having.
Dayah Daylight is away for a long weekend, while Rainiero and Gail keep us on our toes until the arrival of storm Jorge tomorrow.
The stigmas of the crocus sativus give us saffron, though it takes 4000 of them hand picked then dried, to yield one ounce (approx. 25 grams). This probably explains why saffron is expensive. Rather annoyingly, this fact may spring to mind when you next buy the spice.

Many thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.
