Dia del Andalusia

Today the Andalusians celebrate gaining autonomy back in 1980 following a referendum - They should have been granted this autonomy back in 1936 but were denied the opportunity by Franco. However it’s a national holiday and most shops were closed. Lots of people out and about in the streets and a very festive atmosphere.

We had a very good wander round the streets, stopping for lunch in a lovely little restaurant before heading to the Moorish quarter. Stopped for a quick drink and was presented with a lovely portion of paella which was delicious and just what I needed to fortify is to climb to the Mirador San Nicolas - a climb of 250m or so. Fabulous views over the city and across to the Alhambra.
Coming down was a little quicker than going up!

Back to the site to get changed and wait for our friends who are coming to collect us before we go for a final dinner as we head over to Seville tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend everyone
