Common Enchantments

The Greenlife Inn

Before we left this morning (and it was frosty cold out!) I took some photos of the house  (built in 1903) which is our b&b.  The owners have restored this house from vine covered and neglected into something that is really a great place.  The inn is a work in progress with renovations and improvements being done when they are able.

There is much of the original here.  The wallpaper was uncovered when the doors were going to be put in the wall so they left it to surround the doors.  The lights were installed during the time when the house was electrified.   The glass doorknob is a favorite and is on our bedroom door.   The dining room has an assortment of rescued/found small drop leaf tables with mismatched chairs  but also has a long drop leaf wooden dining table with a bench and chairs.   The living area is large and has a reading nook plus chairs in front of the fireplace and several sofas.   Sitting on the front porch, one can just about see the sunset over the mountain.

The yard surprising has some flowers.   A quince bush is blooming, a star magnolia is beautiful and there are tiny wild violets in the front yard.
This is a great place,  so casual and relaxed.  I wish we could stay here the whole time but that won't work!  Too many places to see yet that are far away.

Speaking of places to see..we did a long driving tour today.  First up was Pearson's Falls just a few miles from the inn.  We spend almost 2 hours walking a quarter mile on the path up to the falls and actually saw a bride and groom getting photos made. It was really cold here too!    See the first extra.

After some lunch at a local diner where we had a excellent spinach, bacan and tomato quiche,we drove to Dupont State Park to walk to Triple  Falls and Hooker Falls(second and third extras)   Lots of water due to all the rain up here in the past month.   Then we went to Caesars Head State Park for a view of Table Rock and the lake below it.(extra#4)  Heading back to the inn, we stopped at Wildcat Wayside, a waterfall that is right beside the road and then at Poinsett Bridge, built in 1820 ( our only historic place today!   (extra 5 and 6)

Picked up pizza and then called it a day!   We did get some good walking in today for about five miles!   Plus it SNOWED on us at Dupont State Park.   Just some little flurries but I can say I saw some snow.  Diane said she did NOT bring it with her!

Tomorrow we are leaving here to spend two days observing history.

Thanks for any comments and stars.   Not enough time for answering!
