Mt Carmel orchid

We found 6 different species of orchid in flower in February. This one is ophrys carmelii, which apparently is fairly common in the region.

There were loads of flowers out and the wilder places were very green and lush. Particularly common were cyclamens, yellow oxalis and white asphodel (everywhere) and we also saw plenty of giant fennel, tassel hyacinth and in one place a field full of bunch-flowered daffodils (narcissus tazetta)
