Ret-hot Raspberry

Heat seeker

frozen and fussy
feline tepidly testing
toasting and roasting
plaid bottled recline

The outside weather is frigid, the little stick on thermometer on the bedroom window, in the sun even, attests to that in degrees F. The inside bedroom temp is hovering around 58 degrees F, way too cold for the little hothouse cat.

This house was originally a summerhouse, build in 1893 without central heating. The original owners had wood stoves and fireplaces to ward off the chill. When my grandparents, Nora and Gordon bought the house in 1928 a steam boiler with radiators took care of heat on the first floor. When they converted a bedroom upstairs to a bathroom, one upstairs radiator was added in that room. The other three bedrooms remained unheated, as they are today. We have a hallway with a large downstairs radiator giving off enough rising heat to keep those bedrooms warm enough to sleep cozily.

BUT, now with the cat feud and separation, Madame Raspberry has to be contained through the night time sleeping hours and into the morning with in a closed bedroom. Max is down from the loft then with free rein in the rest of the house until noonish. So, the bedroom temps dive and she cannot manage in cold. Thanks to a photo nudge from Dotty, we ordered some lovely hot water bottles at Christmas. Today, for the first time, during this frigid spell, I decided to place a toasty water bottle near the Berry and it was more than well received.

For the Record,
This day came in too cold to even discuss!
