A Day In The Life

Wild Canary

Flocks of American Goldfinches visit our yard daily, filling the lilac trees, all the perches on the feeders and covering the ground underneath to eat seeds tossed out from above. During the summer we have numerous wild thistle plants growing around the yard. These “wild canaries” not only enjoy the thistle or nyjer seed, they also collect the silky down from the flower pods for their nests.
