Huguenot Memorial

We visited Franschoek today, a town in beautiful mountainous surroundings.
This is a photo of the memorial erected to commemorate the cultural influence of the French Huguenots who landed in the Cape around 1684.
I am a direct descendant of the these Huguenots, and I always enjoy visiting this part of the world....and the many wine farms that the French were instrumental in starting.
Before this we went to Babylonstoren, a wine farm but also beautiful gardens...herbs, fruit, flowers, chamomile lawns where one is encoucouraged to walk barefoot, and so much more. Also lovely restaurants which use the fresh garden produce.
A good day...tomorrow afternoon is visa time. I will beglad when that is behind us.
