Eating Our Fill

Lent verse today is Psalm 36v (7-)8:

How exquisite your love, O God!
How eager we are to run under your wings,
To eat our fill at the banquet you spread
as you fill our tankards with Eden spring water.

Although I usually love The Message take on the Bible, not too sure here about "spring water" at the banquet; a literal translation of the Portuguese version we use is:
You inebriate them from the river of your delights
last I knew, water doesn't inebriate!

Our lunch, also, not exactly a banquet, but it was pretty good. Would have been better to have Blipped the meal tonight at C and E's, but then it's the Bible study, and we'll be very late home.

Gratefuls:
- having a sudden urge to eat cake (very unusual, think I felt like comfort, some hard things at the moment), I made some with oatmeal and chopped apple, turned out pretty good, and I made it in muffin tins, so plenty left to take to the study
- a very blowy, sunny day, so I got all the bedding washed, aired and dried
- Books! Didn't know it was World Book Day, but I am always and forever extremely grateful for books, and the people who go to the trouble of writing and publishing them. Reading Findings, by Kathleen Jamie, at the moment - beautifully described careful observations of all sorts - from ospreys to shielings to her husband's fever to tumours in jars to the Edinburgh skyline, and more. Recommended.
