Origami

Katie and I attended a Japanese cultural workshop at Glasgow University this evening. I made this little origami crane, reminiscent of those we saw in the museum at Hiroshima. The Japanese refer to the crane as the “bird of happiness”. Its wings were believed to carry souls up to paradise. The belief is that if you fold1000 origami cranes, your wish would come true. The crane has also become a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable event!
