Forbidding looking today!

Ruthven Barracks sits on the mound of the old castle and was built by George II to house his troops in 1719. It was attacked three times by Jacobites, who finally destroyed it after Culloden in 1746.
Before that it was owned by Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch, who died here in 1394, after playing chess with the Devil!
Today, all the waders are in and saw Curlew, Oystercatchers and Lapwings. There were also very active Red Kites and a huge flock of Chaffinches.
