Spring magnolias

Look Up

Got out in some decent weather. First time that I’ve smelt the warmth of spring whilst being outside. Really lovely walk round Westonbirt Arboretum, managed to walk about 5 miles. The magnolias are looking amazing and probably at their prime about now. Definitely worth having a look at.

One of my favourite places in the arboretum is Waste Drive in the Silk Wood - I know it sounds dreadful! It’s a bit more of an open space and in part of it they stored chipped wood- masses of it in like semi open hangars. The smell as I walked past one was divine- really potent. The wood was damp, freshly chipped and the sun was heating it through. Luxurious breathing!!!

Managed to get a shop in at a local Tesco superstore and was relieved to see that there was plenty of hand gel / soaps and toilet paper left, not that I needed or wanted to buy any. Seems such a shame that so many people are stockpiling currently and then consequently people with genuine medical needs and elderly people are struggling just to get hold of the very basics. It seems that one of the ways to stop this virus from spreading is if everybody washes their hands frequently and yet a significant proportion of the population might not be able to do that effectively if there is no hand soaps and hand gels left! Ironically guess panic buying may well cause the virus to spread.
