Arrivederci......till we meet again

My Natoora Radicchio di Chioggia arrived this morning. OMG 7th heaven. Radicchio is (along with truffles of the tuber kind) my absolute favourite food. Can get a round radicchio locally. But not sure I have ever seen this one here, maybe in Wholefoods* Kensington (*so miss you)

Of course in La Bella Italia, in the Veneto and Friuli regions, there are varieties galore. Long, round, yellow, burgundy, red tinged with green. And they all have a wonderful, bitterish edge.

We usually eat radicchio raw, but the Natoora lends itself to grilling. And was ½ price :)) -otherwise unaffordable.

Drizzled olive oil, balsamic and Fleur du Sel (a coarse salt). Then George Foreman’d for a couple of minutes.

Meanwhile darling (?) Mr B used his elbow grease to prepare polenta. And his superb wine gravy was a perfect with it.

My entry for Tiny Tuesday (thanks jensphotos), no special theme this month.
What makes my entry tiny? The radicchio ‘heads’ are relatively small, especially for the £££, and are eaten in seconds.

Sadly they come from Verona (Veneto), one of the worse affected regions in Italy. Hence the title of my entry. Expect will be a while before they arrive again :(

Didn’t go out at all. Did some steps on the enclosed balcony with the window open. Plenty to keep us occupied. Possibly good news from Italy, 2 recoveries near Naples*, another in Rome (*after adminstering an anti rheumatoid arthritis medication).
