Tees bridges

Out today for the first time in 8 days, not a pleasant experience.  This shingles malarkey is still a lot painful!

Anyway grabbed a shot of the Newport Bridge across the River Tees from the A19 Tees Flyover.  The Tees Newport Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge spanning the River Tees a short distance upriver from Tees Transporter Bridge, linking Middlesbrough with the borough of Stockton-on-Tees; it was completed in 1934.

Also in the pic is the Transporter Bridge, opened on 17 October 1911.  During WW11 the superstructure of the bridge was hit by a bomb. In 1953, the gondola got stuck half-way.  However, despite minor incidents the gondola and the Transporter Bridge are still running in perfect order.
