What Used To Be

I am in the North Island again.  We crossed over on the ferry last night and are now settled at A & A's  house to house sit for a fortnight.  They have an elderly cat, Elvis, hens and ducks, and a garden to water.  They are neighbours of our good friends.  They had planned a trip to Australia but changed to a NZ road trip in light of the pandemic.  The forester wanted to cut firewood for our friends and this opportunity allows for that. We have been here before in far more sad circumstances last year when our friend was dying. It was okay walking around today.  I feel him here but he is not here.  We all go on with our lives as it should be and our memories walk with us.   Farm Visit
Of course the camera was working hard this morning.  This is a shed that is no longer in use and I liked the textures and faded colours.
I will get back to you.  It's time to cook tea.
Well what an evening.  As I was preparing the meal I had the T.V news on
and our Prime Minister announced travel restrictions requiring everyone entering New Zealand to self isolate for 14 days to contain the spread of the virus.   Our friends run a hunting guiding business and their clients come from overseas.  Next week could be the last week of clients.  In 16 days the Government will review the policy.  We have 6 confirmed cases.
