Trackside

Some time ago I (Chris) booked a photography day at the Goodwood circuit. We've decided to cancel a few other upcoming planned events (some of them have been cancelled for us!) but I decided this was a small enough group and an arrangement not to really worry too much about. Annie came down with me and then went to visit good friends who live very nearby for the day.

We had an eclectic group of cars at our disposal, from a pair of modern Ford Mustangs, a tuned Ford Focus, an Aston Martin, a Ferrari and a Morgan, through to a classic 1970s Citroen SM and an MGB GT. All could be positioned to our individual liking and we had the great backdrop of the restored Goodwood circuit and facilities. During the lunch hour whilst the circuit was clear, we were able to set all the cars up on the grid and we were even allowed a lap around the circuit. The weather was kind, just a few spots of rain. A good day out.

I couldn't resist a couple of extras too.

EDIT (July 2020): By this stage, large public events were being cancelled all over the place. This event was run with social distancing measures, and my (Annie's) visit to see Kate was done carefully without hugs. The self-isolation measures for the over 70s were being introduced.

From the government guidelines:

"What is social distancing?

Social distancing measures are steps you can take to reduce social interaction between people. This will help reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).

They are to:

- Avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). These symptoms include high temperature and/or new and continuous cough
- Avoid non-essential use of public transport when possible
- Work from home, where possible. Your employer should support you to do this. Please refer to employer guidance for more information
- Avoid large and small gatherings in public spaces, noting that pubs, restaurants, leisure centres and similar venues are currently shut as infections spread easily in closed spaces where people gather together.
- Avoid gatherings with friends and family. Keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media
- Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential services

Everyone should be trying to follow these measures as much as is practicable.

We strongly advise you to follow the above measures as much as you can and to significantly limit your face-to-face interaction with friends and family if possible, particularly if you:

- are over 70
- have an underlying health condition
- are pregnant

This advice is likely to be in place for some weeks."
