Wanderings & Witterings

Earn

A nice, relaxing start to Saturday with any temptations to go outside easily quashed by the heavy rain outside. The forecast was for the rain to ease off after 11am and for there to be a brighter 'weather window' for a few hours afterwards, so plans were made.

Soon after eleven, with the rain indeed having eased off, we headed along the farm paths and tracks into Crieff, just in time to catch our intended bus down to Muthill. A wander around the Old Church ruins there before joining the path that would take us up, firstly, onto the River Earn and then alongside the river back into Crieff.

It was a good walk, but our progress was slower than anticipated as many parts of it were very muddy and required a bit of care. A coffee stop in the Crieff Visitor Centre before the final 2-3 kms back to our cottage. The weather forecast was correct as, by the time we restarted our walk, it had started raining again. At least we were walking on pavements and solid surfaces by then.
