In the chaotic world in which e find ourselves, it seems most unlikely I shall have the chance to get to Italy again anytime soon . . . Which means I will miss one of my favourite dishes  . . . Spaghetti alle vongole.
Only one thing for it then — prepare my own.   Took me a while to track down the clams needed as an essential ingredient, but I reckon my first attempt was not too bad and certainly appetising. If anything, I was perhaps a trifle heavy handed with the chilli, but the same could not be said of garlic or indeed the white wine in which both clams and spaghetti are cooked.
Maybe not quite the same as my memories from the restaurant Il Scoglio. But . . . Yummy!
