Little Boxes

Inspired by Jessica Mitford, whose song, "Little Boxes" * about the subdivisions spreading over the hillsides south of San Francisco, caught the attention of a generation in the 60's, and Lady Findhorn's wonderful picture yesterday of the Granton Cottages, I took a picture this misty morning of the houses on the other side of the field where we were walking Ozzie. It makes me realize that there are many versions of little boxes and they are certainly not all negative or tasteless. The comments on Lady Findhorn's picture show that there are many good memories stored in those little boxes....

*Little boxes, on the hillsides
Little boxes made of tick tacky
Little boxes, little boxes, and they all look the same
There's a pink one and a blue one and a green one and a yellow one
And they're all made of tick tacky, and they all look just the same.
