Chess at the Hôtel de Cluny

This is a view in the courtyard of the Cluny Museum, which is Paris's museum of the middle ages. It is housed in the so-called Hôtel des Abbés de Cluny, a well-preserved medieval building in the heart of Paris.

The museum is currently showing an exhibition on games in art, from Babylone to the middle ages, which explains the chessboard. We couldn't attend the exhibition today, but when we do I'll report on it.
