Carnegie Leisure Centre

Working in Dunfermline today and took a walk to the Carnegie Leisure Centre near the middle of the town. The Leisure Centre was gifted to the town by Dunfermline born businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.

After moving to the USA when he was 13 years old, Carnegie soon carved a successful career for himself in the railroads and then the steel industry. His great fortune allowed him to donate to public works such as libraries, museums, theatres and universities and thus improve the lives of those less fortunate.

I can see a little historical Dunfermline series coming on here!
