They can't cancel Spring

In today's Guardian there is a copy of an iPad sketch of daffodils, which David Hockney sent to news outlets with the message - "They can't cancel spring" - "to cheer us all up".

As it was a sunny morning, we went to Acorn Bank to see how the daffodils were doing. They are looking good, but need a few more days to be at their best. A former owner of the estate Dorothy Una Ratcliffe was responsible for planting the bulbs - she was known as the 'Lady of a million daffodils'. There are many varieties of daffodils amongst them, so they are in full flower at different times, but the whole effect in the woodland is glorious.

A lovely sunny day and the sun felt quite warm at last.

The whole family is now involved in occupying the 13 year old at home alone. She has Maths and Science from school - her grandad is setting her geography questions to research, her aunt is setting her writing tasks (scary I would say as she is a journalist/editor) and I have given her some art/photography tasks to load onto her Instagram account.
