AbstractThursday247 Pattern

This week's  theme, set by our host Ingeborg, is Patterns.  My shot was of a paper napkin (faffed with in the usual AT way) from one of my favourite stores,Laura Ashley, which sadly has had to call in the administrators.  I've bought clothes, fabric and home furnishings from them for many years and I'm so sad to see them go under.
Part of the reason for this store's demise and and no doubt many to follow, is the impact of measures brought into effect stop the coronavirus pandemic.  Schools and indeed all educational establishments, will be closed  to the majority of pupils from tomorrow afternoon, with the exception of a skeleton service being provided for the children of key workers(yet to be defined) and those children deemed to be vulnerable.  With official advice suggesting that grandparents aged 70+ should not take on the childcare duties, the financial impact is going to be huge for many.  Let's hope that the government can actually get its promised support into place very quickly indeed.

In other news the Windrush report has finally been made public, a year late and somewhat secondary news due to the almost constant coverage of the pandemic.  The report is damning and one wonders how those affected could ever be compensated for their appalling treatment.
