Rescue!

This early bumble bee was lying half frozen on our back path one evening, so I placed him safely on some heather, with a leaf for cover overnight. Next morning, he was still able to move his legs, so I carefully carried him on the leaf, round to the white heather at the front of the house, where he slowly thawed out in the sun... it took awhile, but he eventually found some nectar, aired and tested his wings, and flew off southwards into the sun... it felt good to have helped him on his way!
