Helvellyn

A gorgeous day, weather-wise, so we thought Lakeside might be rather busy, so we headed for the hills - in fact quite a big one - Helvellyn. The route up wasn't bad, with a few people observing "social distancing" sensibly. The summit was a different case altogether, with a hoard of tourists mingling and bumping into each other - Deb and I found a quiet spot on the top shelter (a dry stone structure to protect you from winds) and we sat about 10 feet away from another couple. When they got up to resume their walk, a huge group of 20 somethings from the North East took over their position, sitting right next to us! (We moved immediately). Was amazed at how many were there taking the closure of schools and businesses as an early Easter holiday.

I despair about the lack of common sense of many, we're likely to find deserted spots from now on, or simply stay in!
