Palace Grounds I

This was our destination of the day - a huge palace complex containing the "Emerald Buddha".  There are many buildings in this complex.  There are burial sites for several Kings and royal family members.  The emerald Buddha itself is perhaps the most revered icon in Thailand.  It's actually made of jade and it isn't large--maybe 2.5 ft. high.  The entire interior of the building holding it is elaborately decorated.  Sadly NO PHOTOS ALLOWED -- also no shoes allowed inside.
