Wanderings & Witterings

Canadians

The flooded field at Underwood Farm is a little less under water day by day, but there is still a significant amount of bird life taking advantage of the remaining expanse of pond.

The oystercatchers which seemed so plentiful in the two or three weeks have more or less disappeared (I only saw one today) but, for the first time, I saw two Canada Geese in the field. It will be interesting to see if they are joined by others, or as the water recedes further, whether they will move on to 'pastures new', in a manner of speaking.

The Co-op at Haggs had no vegetables other than potatoes for the second day in a row, neither was there very much in the fruit section. No chicken and only breaded haddock by way of fish. (Ho hum. How's a man meant to get his five-a-day?) They did have toilet rolls. Didn't buy any.
