Sugar Loaf III

"The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot forever fence it out."
J.R.R Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

This time last Sunday we were enjoying Sunday lunch at Foxhunter Inn at Nantyderry. Today, everything is closed as the country responds to the Coronavirus pandemic. K1 and I are enjoying what will be our last foray further afield for the near future. It's quiet along the canal towpath from Govilon, and the few we do meet take their social distancing seriously and give us a wide berth - or maybe they just don't like the look of me. The peace and calm of the towpath on a gloriously warm Spring day is boosted by  nodding daffodils in the hedgerows and lambs nuzzling their mothers for a feed; couldn't be a greater contrast to the mayhem that is unfolding on the news each evening, As we walked I could see lines of cars creeping around the hillside opposite, on the flanks of Sugar Loaf, crawling like a funeral cortege. The sun glinting on metal was a giveaway that the car park there was packed to overflowing, not the place for social distancing today. I took a different view of Sugar Loaf, from Christchurch, Govilon. My photographic creativity is about to undergo a transformative experience as restrictions on movement begin to bite. Good luck to you all, hope to see you on the other side of this.
