Consider the Lilies

Address to a Haggis

Had a great Burns' Supper tonight. I did the Address to the haggis, which is always fun - the only time I tend to wield a dagger quite so dangerously. This photo was taken later, when "horn for horn, they stretch an' strive". This haggis - and the other, even bigger, which unfortunately burst in the oven - was truly a glorious sight, "warm-reekin', rich". I love that poem.

Anyway, the whole evening was a great success, and great fun. Delicious food, and lots of it, as well as good company, a nice mix of old and new friends and acquaintances.

I'll finish with the words of the Bard:

Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer
Gie her a haggis!
