Desolation During Isolation.

Stratford town centre, usually a bustling hub of shoppers and evangelical preachers ministering to their flocks on any given Sunday was today deserted when I passed through on my 'essential' shopping trip.

Stratford station was opened on 20 June 1839 by the Eastern Counties Railway (ECR) and has been through many redevelopments and expansions. The low-level station was substantially rebuilt in the late 1990s as part of the Jubilee Line Extension works, with a large new steel and glass building (pictured) designed by Wilkinson Eyre that also encloses the new ticket hall.
