Another discovery in the garden. This bush has suddenly produced lots of these bright red buds, which are large, hard and waxy, and some are beginning to split open to reveal the frilly edge of an emerging flower. I know next to nothing about flowers so am hoping some horticulturally knowledgable blipper can enlighten me.
