Beech trees

On our permitted walk today, we went up the belt of beech trees on the edge of the estate. These are the trees where the rooks live - there are three nests here, but many more in other trees. The rooks were already in residence when our houses were built back in 1982. They were very bold then - they would come and wake us in the early hours by pecking at our windows. They've always come to the bird feeders and unhooked them when they can, so only extra sturdy feeders are useful. They're very clever.
