Gizmo and Will

Mom is doing very well and hopefully will come home tomorrow. There will be visiting nurses for awhile and oxygen. But right now what she needs is rest and good food, neither of which she is receiving in the hospital. And she is desperately missing her dogs.

This dog is Gizmo. She had been surrendered to the local humane society last year. When Mom brought her home, she had some aggression issues that endangered her spot, as hurting the humans and canines here was not an option. But my Mom has the touch to bring back lost souls - human and canine. It is so amazing to see the difference in Gizmo in 1 year. She is affectionate and playful. This evening she spent much of her time with Will on this chair - next to him, on top of him, getting belly rubs. This is not the nearly untouchable dog of a year ago. Another Mom success story.

Thanks to my dear blipfoto friends for their kind comments recently. They truly mean a lot to me. It is so remarkable that Mom has gone from near death to near discharge so quickly. I think good medicine combined with us pushing constantly for that care to be timely and careful, as well as lots of love and support worked together to make this happen. As one of my good friends put it, she is a tough cookie. I am quite grateful for that.
