Furlough

Hoorah. Been furloughed whatever that means but sounds like I need a farm implement

Didn’t realise it was going to be my last day of work for awhile
One emergency, a guy with sudden loss of vision and actually having the best part of a morning to investigate made a nice change. More usual is an emergency stuck in the middle of an already too full diary. The guy was half of getting out and oblivious to the fact that a nice classic macula haemorrhage has obliterated his macula and therefore dig for the ‘foreseeable’ future. Had the unenviable task of weighing up whether his risk of CVbt attending the hospital was greater than the delay in treatment, besting in mind they’re in skeleton staff as a lot of ophthalmologists are off sick or self isolating.
Phoned the Acute Referral Clinic and surprisingly they agreed to triage taking the responsibility from me. Phew. Ramps up the pressure even more when no back of the hospital
Finally got the word at 4.30pm from my sketchy boss that we could be furloughed. A sign of relief breathed.
And look what turned up my doorstep, my second bunch of birthday flowers from pal Deidre. Smile!
Don’t mind working , don’t mind being at home. One or other not both!
