A tribute to Andrew Varah..

Andrew Varah was one of the few really great furniture designers and makers. He sadly died in July last year. He is reckoned to be the only maker of infinity models, and his work in wood was extraordinary.

When we moved some years ago to our current home, we commissioned this piece from Andrew. In an Art Deco style, it features a peacock on display. He used many types of wood, including 200 year old Rosewood that lines the inside. The dark "body" of the peacock is Burr Walnut.

I don't have any special lighting equipment, so was finding it difficult to get a good shot of the cabinet, but it gives the sense of it. It is our drinks cabinet, and was designed as a corner piece.
