Life in Canada

My Hero

As we are recognizing our heroes, I would like to introduce someone who is near and dear to my heart.  This is Izzy, my future daughter-in-law, who became a certified Advanced Care Paramedic in November, was rear-ended in December (whiplash and concussion), and now this.

While working 12 hr shifts, she is not only transporting infected people, but sometimes needs to do an assessment to determine whether they will actually require hospitalization.  She is dealing with people who are often terrified which breaks her heart. Every call, they have to treat as if they will be working with someone infected so need to wear all the PPE (she looks like a cross between a firefighter and a doctor).

Despite her job, she wakes up every morning and sees the beauty around her and stays positive.  She is so gutsy, fearless, and my hero.

Here's to all those who go the extra bit to keep us all safe and healthy.
