A reminder

We're bombarded with reminders these days, aren't we - wash your hands, stay at home, keep your distance, don't forget to exercise ...I'm switching the radio off a lot sooner and tend to scroll through my Twitter feed when the TV news is on, simply because it's doing my head in. (I'm hearing that in a Glasgow accent, by the way, but out of deference to my readers from elsewhere ...)

But there are other reminders. One came through the post - a palm cross and a newsletter from our church. A reminder of the community to which we belong and with which we keep in contact via Zoom. It's interesting to see how such a disparate group interacts in this new medium, chatting away before a service, greeting people as they log in - and then, having all been muted for the service, bar one designated responder, we're all let loose to say goodbye again ... Goodnight, John-boy style.

I'm blipping another reminder that we found in some wet woodland beside the track today. The primroses are out, the big fat buds are bursting from apparently dead branches, the birds are singing, and a magpie was intently tearing a small branch from our lilac tree to make its nest. (They also make a real mess tearing moss from the side of the path and leaving the bits they can't quite manage to transport.)

Many a flower is born to blush unseen and all that, but it's strange to think of Spring happening without anyone watching, as it were. It's that tree in the desert thing from my philosophy class at Uni ...
