Living dangerously

We have a multifuel stove. For most of the time it is excellent. On a very few occasions, when the wind is in a certain direction and at a certain strength, it is not so good.

On these occasions, smoke finds an alternative means of escape. Through the house. The smoke alarms go off and the dog dives into its cage.

We deal with it as best we can. Usually that means emptying the fire into a metal bucket and take the bucket out. Usually it happens with the fire is low.

It is happening with increased frequency. Still seldom but more often. We need to get a replacement cowl and the process has started - phone calls have been made and we are waiting.

I bought a heater. There are no flames, no flickering, no fumes but it is not without interest.
