This beautiful female emperor moth has literally just emerged! What a beauty :) 

Every year I raise the larvae of emperor moths with my class. We feed, them (learn about their food plants), clean out their poo, see them change instar and generally enjoy the whole thing very much indeed.

I didn't see it emerge and hopefully a male might come along next and I'll get a few more eggs :)
