Chimneys and Shard

Spent the day working on the terrace - power-washed the flagstones and did some general tidying up. Read yesterday's paper, drank some sparkling wine....

In the evening, Helen and I did a late walk to the Sainsbury's Simply Food on Trafalgar Road. Couples are no longer allowed to shop together as Sainsbury's is trying to maintain social distancing measures and keep people from grouping together. However, there was a nutty woman roaming around the store who had no sense of social distancing at all, so the measures seemed a bit pointless on this occasion.

Today's blip is taken from the carpark outside a block of flats that used to the nurses' home on Vanbrugh Hill. The Shard pokes up in the distance between two of the chimneys of Greenwich's power station.

Today was supposed to be the day I ran the Reading Half Marathon. It was postponed to November as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic, but I wouldn't have been able to run any way, following my groin strain injury. Thankfully, the discomfort is disappearing - I hope to resume some light jogging this coming week to test things out.
