By the light of the silvery moon

NaPoWriMo2020, Day 7.
C'mon, blippers, it's never too late to write a poem!

The moon was so bright that in the wee small hours it stole through a crack in the blinds and woke me up. As I tried to photograph it, I remembered a poem I wrote in 1995. It seems particularly appropriate for Holy Week.

MOON MUSING

Jesus my muse, Jesus God’s moon,
You shine with sweetest light.
Reflecting God’s great glory,
Your radiance is bright.
Once emptied out, you waxed again
With holy light and true.
When I look up and see the moon,
My heart is seeing you.

Jesus God’s moon, Jesus my muse,
You whisper tales to me
Of suffering and triumph
And strolling on the sea.
I ponder them and write them down
And set them to a tune,
And then I sing them back to you
Beneath the silver moon.
