Aperture on Life

Silent Pool

Silent Pool is, for now, truly silent again.  The lockdown has kept a good proportion of visitors away, mainly thanks to the police who are often guarding the car park.  The distillery and Mandira's kitchen are still working but visitors are few and far between, and the staff are for the most part laid off for the time being.

The water is blue, the trout that the poachers have left are few but are massive. The invasive weed was cleared last year, at great expense, but is making a come back.  It's not the place many will remember. Heavy rains washed the banks away and the path around the pond no longer exists.  The beautiful bridge has been removed and it seems less quaint.

Times change but never before at this speed or have such consequences.  The pro is the return of silence and nature, the con the loss of business and friendships. .
