Ivy-leaved Toad flax

As a child, I can remember there was a competition in our village to find wild flowers. We were given a sheet of paper with the names of 20 different plants and we had to identify them, find them and then write where we had found them.

With the help of my I-spy books and ‘The Observer Book of Wild Flowers’, I was able to identify and find most of them. Ivy-leaved Toad flax was one of them. I found it on a churchyard wall.... and no, I didn’t win the competition, but it kept us amused for days.
