The Daily Walk #0.157
With rain forecast for later in the day Mrs CBL and I were out earlier than usual for our daily walk whilst the sun was still shining.
The extra is of the Cruden Bay Hotel which was built on the same spot as the clubhouse which featured in yesterday’s Blip. The hotel was established by the Great North of Scotland Railway and built in the Scottish baronial style, using local red sandstone. It opened in 1897.
Unlike similar developments such as Gleneagles and Turnberry it was not a long term success and it closed in 1939. It was demolished in 1947.
