Cake!   it's great and fixes everything... 

you know you're adjusting to a situation when you start to develop traditions...  for us it's virtual afternoon tea on a Friday...

This time the goodies were provided by mum, who baked, then packaged up the cake and summoned me to a surreptitious doorstep collection... 

Even better there's more of it for tomorrow... I can feel Saturday morning Disney films and breakfast cake coming on... :-)
