A little ray of sunshine

Heading Home

Work on Monday (LGI) and Tuesday (WGH) were very quiet, there was a strange atmosphere, like we're all just waiting for something to happen. The calm before the storm.

This morning felt different, it was still quiet but nearly every patient coming through was ?covid. The storm is moving in.

At lunchtime I had a text from A to say his cough had got worse and he was waiting to be told if he should leave work. So I waited too, standing out the way of collegues, avoiding patients. He soon texted back to say we had to go, 14 days of self isolation for the kids and I, a week or so for him.

I rang school on the way up from the station to have C sent out for me. Tissues at the ready, knowing she'd be upset at being taken home a day early from her friends, knowing that this could be her last day if primary school.

Next stop J's school, and that's it, home for a fortnight except for short walks away from others. We new this may come but it's still a shock.
