Annoyed!

This fine-looking chap is one of two sculptures gracing the entrance to Glasgow's Mitchell Theatre, which is part of the iconic listed building that also houses the famous Mitchell Library. He looks extremely annoyed at the spikes growing on his arms and head, while his chum, who has the same problem, just looks bemused.

Daughter#1 had given me two tickets to a Celtic Connections concert for Christmas, so this afternoon my friend June and I attended the Mitchell to hear Rona Wilkie, winner of last year's Young Traditional Musician of the Year, accompanied by six other young musicians. Rona is a talented musician who writes her own music, plays the fiddle and sings in Gaelic. There were 2 fiddles, a clarsach, a mandolin, an accordion, drums and a trumpet.

Although the concert was good it was short (45 minutes) and I suppose we felt a bit cheated. We were also annoyed that the theatre café was closed by the time we came out at 1.45pm, although the staff were sitting behind the counter doing nothing. They could have done quite a bit of business...
