Our New Life

Lockdown Day 19 - The Crack of Dawn Day

This morning J and I got up extra early and went out into the garden with our chairs and small table, with a coffee of course, and set up my phone so we could watch our morning live safari.

The sky was just getting light when we saw this orange ball of fire just peeking above the horizon. So I ran inside, fetched the camera and did a fast trot down to our back gate (that backs onto the wild bush) and took a snap. Perfect timing too as the birds flee from their nests to get ready for the morning warmth.

J worked more today while I did some more studying. The subject was trees and their uses. It's amazing the amount of natural resources we have around us.
One use of a tree called a Russet Bushwillow is to make tea from the fruits (or their seed pods), although the seeds themselves are know to be poisonous and cause extreme hiccups, the rest of the pod makes a lovely brew. So I removed all the seeds from the pods that we picked from the tree the other day and J made a tasty Russet Bushwillow tea with honey and fresh mint.

This evening we watched a little more of the live safari and had our dinner outside in the garden.
I think we'll have an early night tonight.
